Matthew Goldenberg D.O. is double Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry and is a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO). He is an expert in the evaluation and treatment of mental health disorders and is an addiction specialist for adults in his private practice in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Goldenberg is a trusted aviation and HIMS trained psychiatrist and has extensive clinical and academic experience evaluating and treating healthcare providers.

Dr. Goldenberg provides addiction psychiatry consultations to some of the nation’s top residential and outpatient treatment programs in the Los Angeles area. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Goldenberg is an active author, researcher and invited speaker at local and national conferences. He also volunteers his time as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA.

Dr. Goldenberg completed an Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship through UCLA, in Los Angeles, California, and Psychiatry Residency at Banner University Medical Center of the University of Arizona, in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Goldenberg completed medical school at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, and is a native of Los Angeles.

As an addiction psychiatrist, Dr. Goldenberg is experienced the care of patients with mental health conditions, chemical and behavioral addictions and also patients with a dual diagnosis of addiction and psychiatric illness.

Dr. Goldenberg is an expert in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, insomnia, ADHD, suicidality, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. In addition to extensive clinical experience, Dr. Goldenberg’s education includes four years of residency in Psychiatry and an additional one-year fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry. Dr. Goldenberg is double board certified in both General and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Dr. Goldenberg is also an expert in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of both chemical and and behavioral addictions. He serves as an expert about addictive behaviors involving drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, nicotine, and also the administration and delivery of addiction treatment and all levels of care.

Dr. Goldenberg has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, and treat patients with both mental health conditions and addictions and impulse control involving sex, food, substances, gambling, and substances. Common substances of abuse include alcohol, cocaine, opioids (e.g. heroin, Oxy-Contin, Suboxone/ buprenorphine, Naltrexone, Kratom), benzodiazepines (e.g. Valium, Xanax, Ativan), simulants (e.g. Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Adderall, Ritalin) and nicotine (e.g. Cigarettes, Vaping). Dr. Goldenberg serves as an expert in the management of addiction from detoxification, hospitalization, partial hospitalization program (PHP), residential, intensive outpatient program (IOP), psychotherapy, outpatient and other treatments.
